Movies and their social impact

Last week, my cousins have asked me if I could join them for watching Bejawada, and I gave a blunt NO on why I don't want to come. They were surprised to know the reason and that very moment, I thought everyone should know why and hence this post :) By the way, I also stopped them from watching it and felt very happy after they've stood by what I said.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Even before Independence, when there was no cinema, people went village after village doing puppet shows on how the British ruined Indians and India. They thought it is an effective way to communicate with people. Now we see so many kids, in fact us, even adults, pick up styles, costumes, and even phrases from cinema. Before watching the movie "3 idiots", how many times did one say "All is Well?"
In one of the interviews, RGV was asked "why do you take cinemas which are so controversial? do you see anything useful to the public?" and the stupid says "I *do not* agree if movies make a lasting impact to the audience. they are just entertainment." If we look at his latest movies, Raktha Charithra, Bejawada, Not a love story, he seems to be making his point. Why on Earth does one want to know the life story of a factionist and how faction grew? Why is one bothered if he is proud of his **** collection of movies? Can he make such statements or can he take such movies if his family is part of it? Will he encourage his own kids to watch his movies? I doubt. Since then, I stopped watching his movies and discourage others who do it as well. As a director/producer/story writer, he is responsible for the impact his work leaves on people. He may be truly having a great eye, but I wish he could only use it for the betterment of the society.

AAC

One of my new year resolution for the year 2011 was to blog atleast once a month. I know I've failed miserably on this goal. Now I am trying to have a non-zero number atleast :)
The title seems weird, right? Do the last two letters sound familiar with one of the biggest movements that our country is facing? Ok, I am trying to talk about corruption here. So why AAC?? I meant Amruth Against Corruption, resembling IAC(India Against Corruption) :)
So, that day was a little late at office and then I went to meet a cousin of mine and finally drove back home at around 11:30PM. Just 100m before my house was a police patrol stopping all vehicles and checking whether people are drunk and driving, whether they have the required documents etc. By the way any police mandates RC, Insurance, Pollution Certificate and Driving License. If there's anyone ready for purchasing a new bike, make sure you have these. Coming to the point, I wasn't having pollution certificate(one doesn't need to have it till 1 year since all new bikes aren't that worse and my bike is 2 years old, the lazy person in me never bothered to go for a pollution check) and my vehicle insurance got expired. The constable knowing this got extremely happy, much like a hungry tiger feels when it caught a big, fat deer. A straight reply from him was .. "no insurance and pollution baabu, 300 + 300 -> 600 challan if we go to the SI or if we settle it here it would be 100." I wasn't very much shocked, but I chose to give him a shock. I said "lets go to the SI." I am not sure whether he's shocked or not, but we went to the SI and he listened to the story patiently and asked what was the reason for these documents missing. I said pollution was my fault, but did not notice that my insurance got expired and I can renew it asap. This time I got a shock. He said "fine, I am going to write the minimum amount for you ie. 100/- and get things done soon." I really really really got shocked and impressed by getting to know one different person who's so kind. The very next day I got my pollution check done and renewing an expired insurance is a little procedure oriented and I am on the way.
Thus, my dear fellow Indian's, with this post, I would like to take this opportunity to urge you not to give up hope. Do your bit sincerely and wait for the result. Don't give even a single bugger a chance to fill his tummy with money earned illegally. I've seen people give bribes to get their application looked at first, to jump in front of the queue at numerous number of places etc. Do we like it if we are at the receiving end? Even if it would take a little more time, even if you have to put in a little more effort, face it, do it. Let not the next generation face this dirt. Let's make our country a great place to live.
